Using Gestures in Android to Make Life Easier

Android powered SmartPhones are basically used for 2 purposes either for business or for their ease of use. The touch screen that powers most of the Android SmartPhones can become more interactive when using gestures with it. With the use of gestures you can easily, by actions tell Android “What to do?”.
Before I dig deep into what exactly I am talking about let me first tell you what actually gestures are all about. Basically gestures are nothing else then your motion, whenever your finger moves over that touch screen, you actually create a gesture. You must have seen this before in firefox or chrome. With the use of a gesture recognition plugin in these web browsers, you can actually record different motions of your mouse and associate different actions to them. For example – if you want to move back to the previous page in chrome, you can simple add a gesture of back arrow key by making a shape of same when recording it and just that’s it.

Same concept is included in Android Smartphones with the use of “Search by Gesture” powered by Google Labs. Suppose you want to search certain contacts in your Android Contact List. In Android there are some built in tools through which you can do this easily but still searching through gestures is itself very entertaining. Like if you want to find all the contacts that start with the alphabet “a”, you can simply draw “a” on the screen and Android will automatically do the job for you.
