Nvidia suggests early 2012 release date for quad-coreHead of MWC 2012, chipset supplier NVIDIA has suggested it expects to see the first quad-core smartphones hit stores during the first quarter of the year.
With dual-core pocket blowers such as the Samsung Galaxy S II seemingly set to become a stopgap to a quad-core movement, NVIDIA’s recent MWC invite revealed the upcoming announcement of the world’s first Tegra 3 CPU packing quad-core smartphones.
With HTC and LG both expected to unveil quad-core smartphones at MWC 2012 later this month, NVIDIA’s CEO Jen-Hsun Huang, speaking during a recent earnings call, has suggested the next-gen handsets will be available to consumers by the end of March.
Samsung Galaxy S3 Rumours
Long tipped to land as one of the first quad-core handsets, Samsung recently announced that the eagerly awaited Samsung Galaxy S3 would not be unveiled until later in the year.
One of the most heavily rumoured devices yet to be released, the Samsung Galaxy S3 is tipped to land with a bevy of high-end specs including a 4.65-inch rendition of the company’s now trademark HD Super AMOLED display with a stunning 1280 x 720p resolution.
Other expected Samsung Galaxy S3 specs that have been doing the rounds ahead of the handsets unveiling include 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage and a hefty 12-megapixel rear-mounted camera with the now customary 1080p Full HD video recording capabilities.
