Samsung extended its portfolio of Android tablets with the introduction of Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0). The 7" slate should be the most affordable offering by the Korean company, which offers Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 is, for the most part, identical to the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus. The two slates share the 7" WSVGA (1024 x 600 pixels) PLS LCD, the 3 megapixel main camera (though this time it's fixed focus) and the front-facing shooter. Other specs shared by the two entry level tablets include 16GB or 32GB internal storage plus microSD card slot, 1GB of RAM as well as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and HSPA+ connectivity.
However, the Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) will omit the LED flash and will have a slightly thicker profile - 10.5 mm as opposed to the 9.9mm of the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus. In addition, the CPU of the newly announced slate is clocked at 1GHz, rather than 1.2 GHz and we are yet to hear if the chipset inside is Exynos.
We've got no exact price quote for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) just yet, but is should slide somewhere beneath the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus, which is currently going for about €320. Sales should start in March.
