HTC announced today that it is releases new APIs so developers can better integrate their apps into HTC phones, leveraging some of the unique features built into their Sense UI, as well as allowing music apps to hook into Beats Audio when installed on the appropriate HTC phone models.
What this means for end users is that soon clever developers will be able to let you jump right to their app from the lockscreen, interact better with HTC media features (although there’s no telling when “soon” is), and play media files through their proprietary Beats Audio filter before it leaves the phone destined for your ear buds or other audio playback device.
The four announced APIs are:
In addition to the new APIs, HTC is also promoting their HTC Hub, a place where HTC smartphone owners can go to find apps that leverage these and other HTC APIs. For customers you will be able to more quickly find the apps that are tailored to your phone, while developers will get the extra exposure and revenue that comes from serving a particular market.
HTC may not have has the strongest close to 2011, but between moving to simplify the user experience and improve app integration it sure looks like they are hard at work trying to make 2012 a better year.
